Volunteers In Service

"Too often we underestimate the power
of a touch, a smile, a listening ear, an honest
compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of
which have the potential to turn a life around".
Leo Buscaglia

President's Volunteer Service Award

President Bush has challenged all Americans to dedicate 4,000 hours or two years to volunteer service over the course of one's life. The President’s Volunteer Service Award program is a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

The Degenhardt Foundation is now a certifying organization for this President’s Award. Volunteer hours done for the Degenhardt Foundation are recorded by you, the volunteer. Your record is submitted to the Degenhardt Foundation for verification. Hours are cumulative over your lifetime and when 50 hours (children) or 100 hours (adults) are reached a certificate is given by the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

These awards are great for children and youth as they apply for scholarships and colleges. We all feel pride when we are recognized for the work we do! Please contact the Degenhardt Foundation to learn how you can start!
