Aid for Kids Camp Asia Summer Camp 2016 – 2017 (On-going)

In the summer of 2016, Aid for Kids in partnership with Camp Asia and Wellspring International School successfully delivered a “dream of a lifetime” summer camp for 20 disadvantaged but studious students from June 1st School in one of the poorer areas of Ho Chi Minh City. This is the first time the students ever had a chance to join such a wonderful summer camp, joining in classes of art, cooking, sports, dancing, English language and life skills,…We would like to send our warmest thank-you to Camp Asia and Wellspring International School for sponsoring this program.

“With us working together I think we can really expand the program, to bring summer fun to as many kids as possible” said Dawn Degenhardt, Aid for Kids Executive Director.

“It was a pleasure for myself and staff to work with such a lovely group of students this week, and I would like to see this happening on a much bigger scale – as I see no reason why this cannot be achieved” said Steve Lanning, General Director of Camp Asia.

The kids’ happiness is the inspiration for us to plan the next summer camp in 2017. Please consider donation for this cause 🙂

More about June 1st School:

June 1st School is the only school in District 4 of Ho Chi Minh City that offers free elementary education from 1st – 5th grade. District 4 has a population of about 200,000. The June 1st School provides needed education to 200 disadvantaged children, whose families have financial difficulties, their kids live on the streets and have to do labor work. With your scholarship sponsor, these students can stay in school rather than collecting scrap and plastic bottles for recycling factories; packing goods at wet markets and other forms of menial labor.

On behalf of the children benefiting from this project, we would like to send you warmest Hugs and Thank-you.
Your donation is tax deductible.
