Family situation

My mother died because of petechial fever in 2001. My father died of nervous disease in the brain. I am living with my grandparents since 2001. Grandparents get 200,000 vnd from government. I want to apply for the scholarship because my relatives are very poor. They have not much money for my school and to buy me a new uniform or books, school bag. Each year I wear my old uniform and old school bag. My friends have new things and I wish my relatives can buy for me. Also we have no bike and I must walk every day in the rain or shine. If my relative have a bike they can take me and my brother to school.

My grandparents are old and weak and can’t work – Yearly, the family lacks food for 6 – 7 months. As a result, I had to stop studying some years ago. My relatives work hard but cannot afford enough money. They try hard to keep us in school and I hope that I don’t have to stop school again because they have no money for food.

This family is extremely poor and have no parents. With a scholarship, the relatives will be able to support the children and keep them in school.
